The story of our winemakers

Brizinger Wines (DE)
The Britzingen market cooperative is proud that the tradition of Markgräfler solidarity goes hand in hand with a vibrant enjoyment of life. This sense of community and appreciation for nature are reflected in every sip of our premium Britzingen wine range. These wines are the living result of a cooperative of dedicated winemakers. The Britzingen Winegrowers’ Cooperative (eG) creates wines with unmistakable character.

Their way of life and work is shaped by their location in the cosmopolitan tri-border region between Basel, Colmar, and Freiburg — the Markgräflerland. The artisanal winemaking tradition of these winegrowing families dates back more than 12 centuries; care for the vines and a sense for quality have been part of the Markgräfler way of life for generations. The cooperative, active for more than 60 years, has 140 members who cultivate around 200 hectares of vineyards in the foothills of the Black Forest.

Domaine Carle Country (FR)
“Twenty years ago, I would never have imagined living one day under the Catalan sun. Together with my wife Véronique and my then two-year-old son Quentin, I left our home in Champagne to start a new life in Millas in 1995.

We were both trained accountants. But when we acquired around 3.5 hectares of vineyards on the slopes of Força Real, everything changed. Suddenly, we were no longer sitting at the tasters’ table — but on the other side.”
— Frédéric Carle

From that moment on, Frédéric became a winemaker in Roussillon, a champion of Muscat de Rivesaltes, and a passionate producer of Côtes du Roussillon wines. Step by step, he grew his dream: new vines were planted, a press house and a cellar were built.

“In 2002, I realized there was only one path: organic. And it felt completely natural from the start.”

Today…
Frédéric and Véronique run the family estate together with their daughter Marion, who has recently established herself as a young farmer. The estate spans 11 hectares of vineyards with a total of 10 grape varieties: Muscat à Petits Grains, Muscat d’Alexandrie, Roussanne, Grenache (Noir, Gris, and Blanc), Mourvèdre, Syrah, Macabeu, and Carignan.

Together, they create cuvées that reflect their origin and express the character of the terroir and climate in which they were produced.

HK-Wein (CH)
HK-Wein is the wine brand of young winemaker Harry Kindhauser from the Zurich wine region. The grapes are sourced 100% from Swiss cultivation and processed at the Schloss Goldenberg winery.

Weingut Baur (CH)
Our winery cultivates around five hectares of vineyards. A large part of our vineyard plots is located around the municipality of Berg am Irchel. The vineyard site at Ebersberg (Berg am Irchel) lies high above the Rhine on a gently sloping hill. At Heimenstein in Hettlingen, further outstanding wines are produced.

We therefore cultivate three sites that differ greatly in geological, geographical, and climatic terms. The combination of these influences shapes the character of the wines and gives us a broader range of options when selecting grape varieties.

With focus and authenticity, two generations work in our cellar to create expressive wines with finesse and a distinctive character. With minimal intervention during grape processing and aging, our primary goal is to preserve the quality and varietal typicity developed in the vineyard. Important decisions, whether in the cellar or vineyard, are continuously reviewed and optimally implemented. Even before harvest, the grapes are tasted sensorially, with attention paid to the complexity of flavor.

We stand for both lively, fully fermented, and fruity wines, as well as complex, rich, and age-worthy wines.
